Camp Accreditation
Many of you know we were going through our once every 3 years inspection and accreditation this past week. There was a list of about 500 bullet point items concerning every aspect of camp from food service to safety, discipline and emergency procedures and on to employee matters and camp legal stuff. We failed on two items, one doctor signature on one of our procedures. We did it the doc just didn't sign it. The other lost point was for not telling our staff that camp was not responsible for their personal belongings while at camp.
We are REALLY proud of ourselves and hope that this new accreditation will be something that you as parents will also be proud of.

Our Bible Story this week
Lesson 7: God Protects Daniel in the Lions’ Den
Bible Story: Daniel 6:1-23
Bible Verse: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7).
What is the scariest thing about lions? How would you feel if you were alone with a lion and couldn’t get away? It would be pretty scary. Lions can be very mean, and lions play an important role in our Bible story today. Our story today is about Daniel. The king, Darius, had put Daniel in charge of one third of his men. There were two other men in charge of the rest of King Darius’ men. Because Daniel was so good at what he did, the king put him in charge of a whole kingdom. What are you good at? Daniel’s great gift was leadership. This made the other leaders jealous. They tried to find reasons to accuse Daniel and make him look bad, but they couldn’t find anything. Then these men came up with a plan. They knew Daniel loved God and worshipped God. They knew Daniel prayed every day. So these men went to King Darius and convinced him to make a law saying that no one should pray to any god or man except him, the king, for the next thirty days. Anyone found disobeying the law would be thrown into the lions’ den. The king thought it sounded like a good idea, so he made the law.
Now Daniel continued to worship and pray to God. What are some ways you worship? What do you think the men thought when they saw Daniel praying and worshipping God after he had been told not to? When the men saw Daniel, they went and told the king and said that Daniel should be thrown in the lions’ den. The king was upset because he knew he couldn’t change the law, but he also didn’t want to throw Daniel into the lions’ den. He tried everything he could think of, but he just couldn’t think of a way to stop this. So he had to do what the men asked and throw Daniel into the lions’ den. The king told Daniel, “May your God, whom you serve continually, rescue you!” Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” How can this verse help you when you face a hard time? Well, Daniel sure faced a hard time. Daniel was thrown into a den, a pit where the lions lived. Then a stone was placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it. Daniel was in there alone with the lions. Imagine you are all alone in a dark place. A stone covers the only exit to the room you are in. You know there are lions nearby. You hear the sound of lions’ paws walking across the room toward you. You hear the sound of low rumbling growls. Then it’s very quiet—all—night—long. The king was so upset about having to put Daniel in the lions’ den that he didn’t eat or sleep all night long. The next morning, the king went to the lions’ den and called out, “Daniel, servant of the living God, has your God, whom you serve continually, been able to rescue you from the lions?” What do you think the king heard? Daniel answered the king, telling him, “O King, live forever! My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, O king.” The king had Daniel lifted out of the lions’ den, and they didn’t find any kind of wounds on him at all. Daniel had trusted God and God protected him. Do you think Daniel trusted God when he was in there with the lions? Daniel did trust God, and God protected him in a miraculous way! And you know what? God will protect you, too! You just need to trust him! Let’s pray.
Dear Lord, thank you so much that you protect us in so many different ways! Help us to always remember what you did for Daniel and that you will protect us, too. Help us to always trust you in every situation. In Jesus’ name, amen.
